I remmber talking to a person who grew up during the late 19505s/early 1960 that many times in rural areas, the Ku Klux Klan, (yes that despicable organization), would take husbands who were untoward their wives out for a "nice long ride" or "into the woods" give them a "nice" rough up so-to speak.
