"When I meet a new man for any reason, I make sure they know I am married. I tell someone where I am going and who I am with. "

That is what two of my sisters, a third has never married (I have two brothers as well) one who is now a widow. The other divorced. Like you stated, they would make it clear to men who started going beyond the traditional norms of behavior that they were married and show the the rings on their fingers. I never had to witness such a situation. Needless to say, me and my other brothers would have not hesitated to put the men in question in check! QUICK!!!
